Photography

My photography practice can be broken down into a couple of main strands. I am drawn to scenes of urban decay, the places that give a town or city its darker underbelly and identity, the places that are being steadily removed and replaced by gentrification.

I am also drawn to the practice of photographing light in the darkness. While this too lends itself to urban environments, it can also be found in water, the night sky, or carefully staged studio environments. This element of my work is what ties most of my complete practice (photography, installation, UV painting) together.

I am also interested in working with the figure in future, should the opportunity arise. I have made steps in this direction, working with fishnets and my own body.

Included also are a couple of photos from my ‘Escape’ series, where I looked at the various ways in which escape can be sought from the pressures of contemporary living.
